Alicia Howard, Manager of Tahuti Data, always had a thirst for knowledge. Her first permanent job was with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, Bureau of Research and Statistics, a State Data Center (Census) affiliate and producer of PA employment and wage statistics. Shortly after hire, most of her time was spent in their library learning about the products of all the federal, state and local data producers. In the first 15 months of employment, her clerk position was reclassified to a Statistical Assistant and 15 months later to a Descriptive Statistician. remaining with the department for 10 years. She served as an Information Officer. answering telephone data requests from employers, job seekers, other agencies and the general public. Requests were fulfilled by sending off the shelf products or creating customized tables and reports. Call centers performing this function have been disbanded and support has been replaced with self-serve data bases that are difficult to query with little understanding of the data structure, collection methods and processes. Hence, the birth of Tahuti Data.
